VAC and VAC II vertical-axis chip crushers. Tangled long metal chips from machining operations are fed into the VAC crusher’s hopper either continuously via a plant-wide conveyor system, or in batches from standard drums or chip carts. Chip containers can be lifted and emptied using a forklift or an automatic feeding system supplied by KMC Global Europe. The chips are fed into the crusher’s feed hopper. There, the tangled material is initially torn and broken by the crusher’s fixed cast-steel knives and a rotating feed arm. Final size reduction takes place between the teeth of a fixed ring and a rotating cutting disc.
VAC II crushers are fitted with a Solids Ejector, which automatically removes rod ends and other oversized pieces of metal unsuitable for crushing, minimizing downtime and protecting the equipment from damage.
